Hi,

Has anyone noticed that the camera video background in AR sample project is kinda weird?
It looks thiner in portrait orientation, looks fatter in landscape orientation.

Or is it just my illusion?

Thanks!

Hello buddy,

The AR projects using Qualcomm AR just work in landscape mode.
I mean, the camera layer must be in landscape mode, all the other things can be in any orientation.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply :), actually I did the comparison between Qualcomm vuforia sample project and AR sample project, the camera background in Qualcomm's sample project looks quite normal...

so that's why I ask this question..
any idea?

Thanks a lot!

I think I didn't say very clear of my question in the beginning.
What I mean "looks thinner in portrait mode, looks fatter in landscape mode" is actually the way I hold the device..

so the camera view in Qualcomm vuforia sample project/AR sample project is different.. just wonder why?

Thanks

Look inside the method "configureVideoBackground", you'll the width and height parameters.

If you think the image is strange, just change those parameters, they are responsible by the image aspect ratio.

No, I'm developing on iOS5, and I think this problem should be a configuration issue.
I'm checking Qualcomm vuforia sample now, to see how they configure the video background.

I think what he meant is when the camera is rotated to landscape, it's making some adjustments on the NGLCamera so it becomes "fatter" in landscape orientation.

What I did to solve this issue is by using the lens method on the NGLCamera:

// 1.5 value comes from the landscape aspect ratio (480/320)
[_camera lensPerspective:1.5f near:0.01f far:100.f angle:60.f];

This way, the camera lens aspect ratio will be fixed.
